Everything Buddy can do.

Buddy lives inside WhatsApp, so there is no new app and no portal. Message it like you would a course mate. Here is the full list.

Start chatting with Buddy 16 things you can ask, free for students.

Your timetable

Know where to be, and when, without scrolling the class group.

Lecture schedule lookup

Check your lectures for any day, date range, or weekday. Venue, time, and lecturer included.

β€œWhat lectures do I have tomorrow?β€β€œShow me my Wednesday lecturesβ€β€œWhat's my schedule next week?”

Add & manage lectures

Class reps add one-time or recurring lectures for their program's courses.

Class reps onlyβ€œI want to add a lectureβ€β€œAdd CSC 301 on Mondays, 9 to 11am, LT1”

Class announcements

Class reps send free-form announcements to all their classmates. Buddy drafts the message, previews it with the reach count, and delivers on confirm.

Class reps onlyβ€œAnnounce that we should bring textbooks tomorrowβ€β€œTell my classmates the exam venue changed to LT3”

Course & level setup

Set your course and level once, and Buddy shows the right lectures, including borrowed and general courses.

β€œI'm studying Computer Science, 200 levelβ€β€œMy course is Software Engineering”

Find your class rep

Get the name and phone number of the class rep for your level, so you always know who to reach. Ask about your own level or another level in your course.

β€œWho is my class rep?β€β€œWho's the 300 level class rep?”

Stay on time

A nudge before it matters, so nothing slips.

Daily lecture reminders

Get a summary of the next day's lectures the evening before, so you never miss a class.

Night before at 9pmβ€œEnable daily remindersβ€β€œTurn off my reminders”

Personal reminders

Set a reminder for anything: assignments, deadlines, meetings. Buddy pings you at the exact time.

β€œRemind me to submit CSC 401 on Friday at 5pmβ€β€œList my reminders”

Coursework

Take part right inside the chat.

Quizzes

Take quizzes shared by your class right inside the chat, with instant scoring.

β€œPaste a quiz code to begin”

Assignment submission

Collect and submit your personal assignment using a simple assignment code.

β€œPaste an assignment code to start”

Send notes or past questions

Send Buddy your lecture notes or past questions as a PDF, Word, or PowerPoint file, or a photo, and it saves them. Snap a clear photo and Buddy reads the text off it; scanned PDFs work too. Ask about anything you've sent by name, or reply to it: get a summary, ask about one part, or ask a question and it finds the answer. Not sure what you've sent? Ask Buddy to list your documents. It saves anything else you send, but only opens lecture notes and past questions.

Notes & past questionsβ€œSend your lecture notes or past questions as a file or a photoβ€β€œWhat documents have I sent you?β€β€œSummarise my operating systems notes”

Quiz yourself on your notes

Turn any note or past-question paper you've sent into a practice quiz. Notes become fresh questions; a past-question paper reuses its own questions. Reply "quiz" after you send a file, or ask anytime, and set the number of questions or minutes if you want. You take it on the web, get your score and a question-by-question review, and can retake it as much as you like.

Practice quizzesβ€œquizβ€β€œQuiz me on my operating systems notesβ€β€œGive me a 20-question quiz on the CMP416 past questions”

More from Buddy

The smaller things that still help.

Report & feedback

Send complaints, bug reports, or feature requests straight to the admin team.

β€œI want to report a bugβ€β€œI have a feature request”

General chat

Ask questions or just gist. Buddy has a friendly Nigerian personality.

β€œHey, what's up?β€β€œTell me a joke”

Name personalisation

Buddy learns your name and greets you personally. Tell it once and it remembers.

β€œMy name is Aishaβ€β€œCall me Tunde”

Pick your language

Buddy replies in a natural mix of Pidgin and English by default. Prefer just one? Set it to Pidgin only or English only, and switch back anytime.

Pidgin, English or bothβ€œSpeak only Englishβ€β€œPidgin onlyβ€β€œMix both”

Stop announcements

Reply STOP to turn off the announcements Buddy sends to all students. Your lecture alerts, reminders, and replies keep working. Reply RESUME to get announcements back.

β€œSTOPβ€β€œRESUME”

For lecturers

Tools for lecturers, right inside the same WhatsApp chat.

Find your students

Look up students in your department by course, level, admission number, or phone. You see name, program, level, and admission number, never their phone.

Lecturers onlyβ€œShow me Computer Science 200 levelβ€β€œWho is admission number 2021/1234?”

Find open teaching slots

See when a level, or two levels together, has no lecture scheduled, so you can pick a clash-free time to hold a class.

Lecturers onlyβ€œWhen is 300 level free this week?β€β€œWhen are UG3 Software Eng and UG4 Computer Science both free for 2 hours?”

Notify a whole level

Reach every student in a level with one message. Just say what you want them to know and Buddy drafts the announcement, shows you a preview and how many it reaches, then delivers it for you, so you never handle their numbers.

Lecturers onlyβ€œMessage all 200 level Software Engineeringβ€β€œTell 300 level the class moved to Thursday 10am”

Find a class rep

Get the name and phone number of the class rep for a level in any program across your institution, so you have a direct contact for that class.

Lecturers onlyβ€œWho is the class rep for Computer Science 300 level?β€β€œGet me the 200 level Software Engineering rep's number”

Your first question is one message away.

New features land regularly. Inside the chat, just ask β€œWhat can you do?” for the latest.
